MAXIMUM enjoyment.

1. Maximum Enjoyment:

Did you ever see someone who was really into health food, but didn’t look healthy? It seems like some folks think that they need to be serious and constricted and rigid about what they eat and their faces show it. Scrunched up and tight. I would like to suggest that this is old and worn out. David Wolfe, author of The Sunfood Diet Success System, Eating For Beauty and Naked Chocolate suggests that eating healthy can now be a pleasure. Eating healthy is now a choice about maximum pleasure. It is a choice about what WE CAN HAVE not a denial of WHAT WE CAN’T HAVE.

I think Wolfe is right. The name of the game now is, ‘How Great Can My Day Be.”

How great can your day be?
Food that tastes great. High energy health through your whole day. Solid focus and clear thinking in class and in homework. Strong stamina and physical vigor. Powerful immune system. Radiant skin. Positive mood. Sexually vibrant.

Really amazing food is always pleasurable. Don’t get caught in the trap of thinking that eating healthy has to be bland, boring and bad. Healthy food is luscious, fresh, delicious and downright sensual.

So, how can you enjoy more healthy food this week?

Well, fresh vegetables and fruits are the first step.
The second step is healthy condiments. This includes Tamari (Eden foods is great), Umeboshi plum vinegar, garlic powder, fresh ground black pepper, sea salt, olive oil, cayenne pepper sauce, cinnamon, ginger, tumeric, olives, capers, strong cheeses (parmesan, blue cheese, etc.)

Take some fresh veggies, say zucchini and broccoli, and chop them up and saute them in olive oil and sprinkle on some sea salt, ginger and garlic.
This is simple high energy food that tastes GREAT. Simple, tasty food may taste so fresh and good that it takes a few moments to take it in! So savor the first few bites and let yourself ENJOY!

Another simple step you take, especially in the summer, is to eat blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and cherries in “medicinal” amounts. Really get down with the berries. You will feel the immediate high energy effect and the complete luscious ENJOYMENT of berries.

So the key here is making healthy eating so much more interesting than not eating healthy. Wouldn’t it be great to switch from “oh, I have to eat healthy” to “wow, I get to eat superfoods, and fresh fruit, stir fried veggies, and a cornacopia of flavors and textures.”

Maximum enjoyment is a KEY value of the healthy, fast and cheap lifestyle. Health includes pleasure and enjopyment. When we enjoy our food we send our brain and body the message that ‘everything is safe, relax, take in life.’ This facilitates the healing and restoration of the nervous system, the GI tract, the muscles… our whole body gets to a state of regeneration when we experience enjoyment.

Maximum Enjoyment is also about focus. What we focus on expands. Think about the classic, “don’t think about a pink elephant.” You think about a pink elephant. When you say to yourself, “I can’t have this, or I can’t have that,” you end up wanting “this or that” even more, just becasue you are denying it!

By focusing on this thought, “how can I enjoy life more,” you end up breaking through the conditioning of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ foods and what you “should” or “shouldn’t” eat. You end up wanting to enjoy good energy, good food, good focus and a good life. Then healthy eating is easy. It is something you love and enjoy. Who doesn’t want to have better energy, focus, sexual drive, stamina?
